After the success of the inaugural Fanfest back in February, the San Angelo Colts are proud to announce the 2008 Fanfest. The Colts’ biggest off-season event will be held Sunday, February 10th, 2008 from 12 till 3pm at Chilango’s City restaurant (formerly Mejor Que Nada). It will be sponsored by Chilango’s City and Foster Communications.

There will be prizes, games, and a silent auction with all of the proceeds to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network. Former Texas Ranger and Hall of Fame pitcher Fergie Jenkins, former Houston Colt .45 outfielder Walt “No Neck” Williams, Colts manager and former big league manager and player Doc Edwards, and current and ex-Colts are among those that will be present at Fanfest signing autographs.

Jenkins, who is currently a rancher, was inducted into the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame in 2004. He was the AL Comeback Player of the Year in 1974 with the team, in which he posted a 25-12 record with a 2.82 ERA and 29 complete games. Jenkins won 16 games or more three times in a Ranger uniform. He became the first Canadian inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1991, and was voted the 1971 NL Cy Young winner.

Williams, who is a native of Brownwood, Texas, was signed as a free agent by the Houston Colt .45s in 1963. On April 21st, 1964, he made his major league debut with the Colt .45s. He earned the nickname “No Neck” for obvious reasons. He spent ten seasons in the major leagues before finishing his career with the Yankees.

Advanced tickets for the event will be $8, and tickets purchased the day of the event will be $10. Tickets will be available at Chilango’s City and the Colts ticket office, which can be reach at (325) 94-COLTS. Additional outlets will be added later.

The San Angelo Colts are a part of a six-team league that make up United League Baseball. The independent league has teams located in San Angelo, Laredo, Amarillo, Edinburg, and Rio Grande Valley, Texas as well as Alexandria, Louisiana, and began play in the 2006 season.
