HOUSTON ASTROS CARAVAN LUNCHEON

(Round Rock, TX) - The 2006 Houston Astros Caravan Luncheon will be held from Noon until 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, in the United Heritage Center at The Dell Diamond. Doors open at 11 a.m. The 2005 National League Champion Houston Astros representatives in attendance will include Tim Purpura, Milo Hamilton, Jason Lane, Phil Garner, as well as other Astros team members to be determined. Tickets are $25 per person and $185 for a reserved table of eight. Space is limited and tickets are subject to availability, so be sure order now

Astros begin 2006 Winter Caravan with stops in Houston area on Jan. 17, 18, 19, 21
Community visits and free autograph sessions at Academy stores highlight stops in the Houston area

HOUSTON -- The Houston Astros 2006 Winter Caravan gets rolling this week (January 17, 18, 19, and 21) with stops around Houston and the surrounding area including Brenham, Beaumont, and Port Arthur. The annual Astros Winter Caravan features visits to community centers, schools, and hospitals and free autograph sessions for fans at Academy Sports & Outdoors locations. The caravan will also make stops in the Central Texas/Temple area (January 23-25) and several other cities in Texas and Mexico (February 6-9) including McAllen, Brownsville-Harlington, Laredo, Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Austin, Round Rock, College Station, and Monterrey, Mexico. Details of those visits will be announced at a later date.
Astros included in the Houston-area portion of the Astros Winter Caravan include shortstop Adam Everett; outfielder Willy Taveras; pitchers Brandon Backe, Chad Qualls and Steve Sparks; bench coach Cecil Cooper; Astros greats Jimmy Wynn and Enos Cabell; Hall of Fame Broadcaster Milo Hamilton; and TV broadcasters Bill Brown, Jim Deshaies and Larry Dierker.

Fans of the 2005 National League Champion Houston Astros will be able to get free autographs from the Astros and take photos with the National League Championship trophy at the following Academy Sports & Outdoors locations (subject to change):

I got a phone message from the Houston Astros and the caravan will be in San Antonio on Feb 9 from 4-5 p.m. at the Academy 7555 NW Loop 410. If you are going get there early since they will only be there an hour. They told me a there will be a press release later in the week to say who the players will be.

HOUSTON -- The Houston Astros 2006 Winter Caravan concludes next week (February 6-9) with stops in Monterrey, Mexico and eight cities throughout Texas including McAllen, Brownsville, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Laredo, Austin, Round Rock and College Station. The annual Astros Winter Caravan features visits to schools and hospitals, Astros-themed luncheons, and free autograph sessions for fans at Academy Sports & Outdoors locations. Previously the caravan made stops in the Houston area (January 17-21) and the Central Texas/Temple area (January 23-25).
Several Astros players, former players, coaches, and front office members are scheduled to participate in the final portion of the Astros Winter Caravan.
