ROUND ROCK, Texas - Defending American League champion Texas Rangers have announced 2011 caravan stops for Central Texas. The three-day tour includes eight stops stretching from Waco to San Antonio, highlighted by a luncheon Thursday, Jan. 27, in the United Heritage Center at The Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
Tickets for the luncheon at The Dell Diamond will go on sale Jan. 6 through the Round Rock Express ticket office (512.255.2255) and online at The Official Site of Minor League Baseball | Round Rock Express Homepage. Individual general admission tickets are $40, while a table of eight can be reserved for $300. The luncheon is presented by Cody Pools and Mission Plastering. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. CST with the luncheon program beginning at noon. A one-hour autograph session for ticketed attendees will follow the program.
Rangers personnel in attendance for the Express luncheon include Rangers owners Nolan Ryan and Chuck Greenberg, Rangers bench coach and former Express manager Jackie Moore, and Rangers Senior Executive Vice President Jim Sundberg. Players in attendance for each stop on the tour, including the Express luncheon, will be announced in early January.
The Central Texas caravan begins Tuesday, Jan. 25, with a morning stop at Fort Hood in Killeen, followed by an afternoon stop at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston and an evening autograph session at Academy Sports + Outdoors in Selma. Wednesday's events include a luncheon in College Station sponsored by FSN Southwest and an autograph session at Academy Sports + Outdoors on Brodie Lane in South Austin.
The Rangers will visit a yet-to-be-determined Round Rock ISD school prior to the Thursday luncheon at The Dell Diamond. The caravan then moves north for an autograph session at Academy Sports + Outdoors in Waco. A detailed schedule of the tour is below.
Round Rock, the Rangers Triple-A affiliate, opens is 12th season April 7 at The Dell Diamond, beginning the season with four-game series against the Iowa Cubs and Omaha Storm Chasers.
