Oddibe McDowell Private Signing 5/09

Approved by Alan

Former Texas Rangers, Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Indians and 1984 Team U.S.A. Outfielder Oddibe McDowell will conduct a private signing with me next month (May 2009).

Oddibe was one of the more popular players in the 1980's and I thought perhaps some people would need him on cards, photos..etc.

Right now Oddibe lives in Florida and London and also spends time in Texas. He is an off and on signer TTM and has not done a signing in 4 years. I spoke with him last week and he gave me the ok for a private signing.

I believe these prices are very reasonable, cheaper than his last signing.

Oddibe McDowell
Your Baseball Card $5 + SASE (Will not sign Cleveland Indians cards)
Your Baseball, Photo, small item $10 + SASE
Your Bat, Jersey, large item $15 + SASE

I have also many of Oddibe's cards that you can purchase directly from me. They are first come first serve and they are viewable below.

My card $7 DELIVERED (postage includes 1 card)
My ROMLB $25 DELIVERED (postage includes 1 baseball)
*I will combine actual shipping on multiple cards, items*

Also we will be offering a really nice deal on Oddibe in his Team U.S.A. 1984jersey in the batters box as seen in the scan below. This is a really nice high gloss photo and is extremely rare. Just 13 bucks delivered !

My 8x10 Oddibe McDowell Team USA '84 $13 DELIVERED (1 photo)

I do not plan on purchasing additional photos (Rangers/Braves) but will upon high volume request.

I will have your cards + photos signed with either Blue Sharpie, Staedtler Medium or fine or black sharpie. Silver Deco also available. Please e-mail placement.

Several photos will be posted on the site of the signing.

Payment : Paypal (with 4% service charge !!!), Checks and Money Orders

Please send payment with items to :

e-mail emcee17140@aol.com

I look forward to hearing from everyone ! PM or e-mail please. thanks.

He always inscribes a bible verse when he signs TTM. Can you make sure he does not for this private signing? If you can get a guarantee he won't, I'll be in for 2 cards.

Whats wrong with Bible versus? You get an autograph and your soul saved at the same time.

I wrote him TTM in January. He signed the 1991 Fleer and did not sign the Indians 89UD card. On my letter he wrote a note apologizing and that he doesn't sign Indians cards. I am curious as to why myself.

Thanks to everyone e-mailing and PM'ing.
The signing will be Saturday May 9th 2009.

I will need all of your items by Monday May 4th 2009.

Although he would never state it publicly, Oddibe felt he was treated poorly by the Indians organization at the time. Since he left there in 1989 he decided he would not sign Indians items.

I will say that four years ago someone sent in a full size Indians helmet with about 50-60 signatures and he felt that since it was not a single signed item he would sign it. The person also wrote a nice letter with an explanation which was enough for him.

If anyone else has questions e-mail or pm me ! thanks for the interest

I remember seeing Oddibe in AAA his last season, and he wouldn't sign Indians cards then, so at least he's been consistent. His opinion of how the organization treated him was the same reason he gave me, but I still don't see how not signing Indians cards for the fans who need those cards for sets is getting back at the organization. Too bad you couldn't convince him to sign them for this signing, I'd be down for 2-3 of each of his Indians cards if he'd be willing to bend.

I will discuss it with him and see what he says.

At his last signing he wouldn't do it, AND he never told me so the promoter had to send a bunch back with a refund ! I was caught off guard.

I'm one step ahead here. I'll post the result of my conversation with him early next week.

Meanwhile thanks to everyone for the interest !!

thanks.

I'll probably be in for 1 card, and I don't mind Bible inscriptions at all. In fact, I think it adds a bit of character to a signed card.

For the upcoming signing.

I spoke with Oddibe today and did ask him about signing Cleveland Indians baseball cards. It is just basically something that he has not done through the years and on principal has decided to stick with it.

I did not press him for any additional money to sign these cards in particular and he didn't mention it so I just left it at that. He did say to apologize to everyone trying to complete sets

On the other hand, if you have a Cleveland Indians ITEM to sign such as a photo or helmet...he WILL sign 1 per person for this signing only.

Last signing he did 1 full size helmet with other Indians on it and I reminded him of that and he gave me the ok to do "a couple" for this one.

Therefore I will be purchasing an 8x10 shot of him with Cleveland which I will have for the signing and will post the pic next week.

Thanks for trying. Hopefully the Cleveland items he signs will help towards breaking the ice for cards in the future. I hope Oddibe one day understands that he is punishing the wrong group of people for the bitterness he holds for the Cleveland organization.
