I've received two successes from Minor League legends so far this year: Joe Bauman (who hit 72 HR's in 1954), and Ron Necciai (struck out 27 batters in a game in 1952). Necciai even wrote a nice note an my index card and added his stats from the historic game.

graveline,
i am working on (among many) the 1993 topps set trying to get it autographed by every player.i think i have located three guys that up until now i have not been able to find.i wanted to see if you have an address on any of these guys to compare with what i have come up with.they are:
ryan whitman
105 cypress point dr.
palm beach gardens,fl 33418
mike veneziale
112 e.jefferson ave
wildwood crest,nj 08260
jeff plympton(91 debut)
298 eastside rd
wrentham,ma 02093
does this match up with anything you have? i would appreciate any info you might have as i am very close on both sets and these are guys i have not been able to find and i also see that you are very good at finding guys like this.
thanks,
redsman

The latest smallings address book lists:

Jeff Plympton
8 Robin Street
Plainville, MA 02762

I don't know if that's more recent than the other address, but if the first is his parents house, I'm guessing either would work.

I looked for both Whitman and Veneziale recently and couldn't find any addresses that seemed real convincing for either, so the ones you got may be worth a shot. They're not real common names so even if it's not the right address, there's a good chance they might be relatives and can forward the mail for you.

On an interesting note, he signed my silver signature card "L. Matthew Brunson" while signing Matt brunson on the rest. Very good one for me...Even wrote thank you and drew a smiley face on my envelope. I wish him the best of luck in the future..hopefully football will work out!!

Did you get Roberts back? I had never had success with him in the mail. Then in '99 he was in the Southern League and turned me down here in B'ham. But I happened to catch him in Greenville while on a business trip. Signed a few and asked why I wanted him b/c they were worth nothing. Not a bad guy but just didn't seem to want to sign. Also that day scored Jose Malave who ended the season with Carolina who I needed on quite a few sets.

sorry, i tossed the letter w. the addys after like month. fisher is played w. the brockton rox of the northern league, try him care of the team
had a rather surreal expireance...i met someone at the mudcats game, told him how i try and track down ex minor leaguers...he said he did to. he then offered to sell me a list of his succseess...i asked who was on it and much to my surprise it was my own list. he wasnt even a TPA member either...anywho, it seems my handiwork has been passed around quite a bit. if possible, i would like to update the list...as i havnt used some of the addys on it in 5 years...if anyone on this board has mailed off it if they could post their succsesses and failures/retuen to senders it would be much appricated. keep up to good work

i've been talking w. a couple people who have sent out from my big list, and they say that they did not get back: David Yocum, Jeff McNeely, Paul Swingle, Bill Bliss, lee daniels, and mike milchin. derek hacopain seems to be streaky, as people have both said they've had successes and failures. if anyone else wants to save people time/trouble/risk of losing cards please post here. now that the season's done, have another batch ready to go.

Y'all might want to call these folks and see if Mc Connell is coming to alumni weekend in October at Creighton-- see link---

http://gocreighton.ocsn.com/sports/m...091002aaa.html

i believe there are some folks on here from Omaha that might be able to help-

also found a boxscore for a Nebraska game that had a 1b Umpire Named Chad McConnell-- you might want to check and see if he is a big12 ump

Graveline, I've tried some of your addresses, thanks. So far only 2/8 after 3 weeks with Rich Ireland and Tom Nuneviller my only successes.

To all who use Graveline's addresses, you must remember, some are as old as 3 years ago. I have not got back Dave Yocum yet either. This is not Graveline's fault. When I first started mailing, I got back alot of RTS's. Now, I research them on my own. If Graveline had an address posted, I use it as a starting point and then verify. Rich Ireland for example is his parents address. I did some research and got his true home addy. If you do your own legwork, then you will insure greater success.

big one today
kyle abbott 20/20
c.o baseball chapel
Box 1366
Ocean City, NJ
08226

check out baseballchapel.org...it lists the team chaplin for every major and minor legue team...surprising # of ex big leaguers and minor leaguers there
kyle has some sentimental value to me...i got him back in 93 when i was just starting this was all sorts of incompitent. back then i would only make it to 10 games a year having cards of like 5-10 players. also got back don gordon, onld indians big league cards and of course line drive AA c.o unlimited potential, same addy as bryan hickerson listed a few posts above

I found a possible address for Eric LeBlanc, I'll let you know if it works. There are just too many Eric Gillespies out there though and I haven't been able to find any in the towns or areas listed on his cards.

I recently went to a card show and picked up a certified autograph card of Bryn Kosko a former minor leaguer. Does anyone have any more info on him? I bought the card for a $1, I saw that Graveline has his address on his website. Graveline, have you had any success via mail with him?
Does anyone have the address for Simon Pond?

well, guess this is suddenly irrelavant due to wawamans post, but i got shane wright back today too, 3/3 less than 2 weeks. actually wrote him c.o the fort worth cats last winter, but he wrote me a letter saying the indians had signed him so i held off on mailing him, but i never saw him at all this year. i have recently talked w. chris smapson and aaron franke as well, as soon as i get my cards back i will post them for the rest of the 00 team best rookies collectors in the house. If anyone has Anthony ware, please contact me.

stkmtimo, I'm actually friends with Bryn Kosco. I've known him for like 10 years. I just saw him a few months ago when we went to Pirates game together. He was a 8th round pick of the Expos, and has minor league team card sets in the Expos chain from 87-92 for the Expos, 93 for the High Desert Mavericks for the Florida Marlins A team. He also had a couple of I think classic 93 or 94 cards, as well as team issues. He has team issue in 94 for New Haven, and 95 and 96 for Iowa. He is out of baseball since 1996.

got back tim costo today...signed all 15 of mine and threw in 6 of his own (including 3 team sets)....he had allways eluded me as a player, i saw him w. syracuse but the crush of hounds there for super star to be jose cruz jr. kept me from getting tim....anywho, also a note on how to find the hard to find...i had originally tried costo in the smalling addy and my usual whitepages search with no luck....i then ran his name in google, and came accross an aritce on the iowa state webpage saying that he was retired and had moved to chattanooga w. his wife and kids....as his wifes name was mentioned, i plugged it in for chattanooga, and bingo.

Great to see you caught up with Tim, I always thought he was a good player when I saw him play. A solid performer, it's too bad he had the likes of Hal Morris ahead of him, along with McGwire and Delgado later in his career. BTW have you ever tried Scott Ruffcorn? I have tons of unsigned cards of him....

posting two old red sox farm hands, willie tatum and chad "#1 pick who never threw a minor league pitch" schoevenvogel i was laughing that smatt posted terry horn, as these two players were drafted by the red sox in the 1st round then immeaditly dissapeared. occasional, at pawsox land you'd see a new comer w. the horn and schovenvogel cards in hand, allways good for a laugh

Phil Merrell

also got back ryan beeney, yankees stadium club draft pick cards, 4.4 OVER 6 MONTHS! got the addy somewhere here on TPA

finally 12/12 from former expo/mariner matt wagner...there was a matt wagner kicking around the indy leagues for years who was not him (and for whom i had mistakenly brought my cards a number of times). went and saw an atlantic league team this summer w. matt wagner assumeing it was the same nobody who had been kicking around the northern league for years...whoops, the "real" one was trying to make a comeback from years of arm trouble. allways jelous that graveline2 had gotten the stack out of him...now i gots my own

Hey Adam, I noticed the same thing with my Bryants. I found one that I already had (I'm guessing from a trade or something) and the S looks the same but he signed every letter out real neatly. I can tell it's the same autograph, just VERY abbreviated.

I'm involved with Wall Street, as well, though I wasn't a pitcher in the Indians org. He works as a director of sales and IT for a software company. He was also a stock broker at Sands Brothers, a very small brokerage firm.

Graveline,

I'm working on my 1990 topps cubs set and was wondering if you have ever stumbled upon an address for Earl Cunningham, an old 1st rounder of the cubs? Thanks in advance.

Hey Adam, I noticed the same thing with my Bryants. I found one that I already had (I'm guessing from a trade or something) and the S looks the same but he signed every letter out real neatly. I can tell it's the same autograph, just VERY abbreviated.

some random ones i doubt anyone is going to care about....but i cant find matt brunson everyday you know

Jamie fernandes (95 butte)
c.o hit dog training center
57 french st
Stoughton, ma 02072 (all of 3 blocks from were i grew up...aperently nomar and a bunch of the sox work out there in the winter but its too late to help me now). paul "old red sox team sets" rappoli also works here, so i'm sure the addy would work for him too

Joe keusch (94 hudsen vally rangers)
c.o Southridge High School
1110 South US Highway 231
Huntingburg, IN 47542

FYI...on my last batch i've gotten 9 of 11 of my 1st letters back...best % ever...this time i plugged names into google, found a bunch of people who are now high school coaches...just threw 'em out care of the school and have had great success....try the name or the name and baseball and see what happens.

Graveline, I was wondering, when you send off a blue sharpie along with your cards, do you specifically ask the player to return it, or do you just let him have it. I was also wondering if you needed extra postage on your SASE when asking for your sharpie to be returned.

Lastly, if you do ask for your sharpie back, do most players comply?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

if i have less than 4 cards of the player, i specifically ask him to keep the sharpie, as it will mess up the envelope in the return mail
if i have more than 4 cards, i use a bubble mailer, and dont say either way. all season when a sharpie is about out of life i just put it aside for mail

Got back David Mysel yesterday. Sent a bunch of '94 Upper Deck Minor Leagues to him and a blue sharpie. Told him to keep whatever he needed, sent back 22 signed in blue. Always a nice success to get someone you need from a set that has been out of ball for that long.
