I've received two successes from Minor League legends so far this year: Joe Bauman (who hit 72 HR's in 1954), and Ron Necciai (struck out 27 batters in a game in 1952). Necciai even wrote a nice note an my index card and added his stats from the historic game.

Got Darryl Conyer back today 4/4 c/o the San Diego State Athletic Dept, took 1 week. I'm not that close to completing the Best set, but it completed one more card from the Future Stars insert from it. Thanks for the heads up on that one Graveline!

graveline,
i am working on (among many) the 1993 topps set trying to get it autographed by every player.i think i have located three guys that up until now i have not been able to find.i wanted to see if you have an address on any of these guys to compare with what i have come up with.they are:
ryan whitman
105 cypress point dr.
palm beach gardens,fl 33418
mike veneziale
112 e.jefferson ave
wildwood crest,nj 08260
jeff plympton(91 debut)
298 eastside rd
wrentham,ma 02093
does this match up with anything you have? i would appreciate any info you might have as i am very close on both sets and these are guys i have not been able to find and i also see that you are very good at finding guys like this.
thanks,

The latest smallings address book lists:
Jeff Plympton
8 Robin Street
Plainville, MA 02762
I don't know if that's more recent than the other address, but if the first is his parents house, I'm guessing either would work.
I looked for both Whitman and Veneziale recently and couldn't find any addresses that seemed real convincing for either, so the ones you got may be worth a shot. They're not real common names so even if it's not the right address, there's a good chance they might be relatives and can forward the mail for you.

Did you get Roberts back? I had never had success with him in the mail. Then in '99 he was in the Southern League and turned me down here in B'ham. But I happened to catch him in Greenville while on a business trip. Signed a few and asked why I wanted him b/c they were worth nothing. Not a bad guy but just didn't seem to want to sign. Also that day scored Jose Malave who ended the season with Carolina who I needed on quite a few sets.

sorry, i tossed the letter w. the addys after like month. fisher is played w. the brockton rox of the northern league, try him care of the team
had a rather surreal expireance...i met someone at the mudcats game, told him how i try and track down ex minor leaguers...he said he did to. he then offered to sell me a list of his succseess...i asked who was on it and much to my surprise it was my own list. he wasnt even a TPA member either...anywho, it seems my handiwork has been passed around quite a bit. if possible, i would like to update the list...as i havnt used some of the addys on it in 5 years...if anyone on this board has mailed off it if they could post their succsesses and failures/retuen to senders it would be much appricated. keep up to good work

i've been talking w. a couple people who have sent out from my big list, and they say that they did not get back: David Yocum, Jeff McNeely, Paul Swingle, Bill Bliss, lee daniels, and mike milchin. derek hacopain seems to be streaky, as people have both said they've had successes and failures. if anyone else wants to save people time/trouble/risk of losing cards please post here. now that the season's done, have another batch ready to go.

Y'all might want to call these folks and see if Mc Connell is coming to alumni weekend in October at Creighton-- see link---
i believe there are some folks on here from Omaha that might be able to help-
also found a boxscore for a Nebraska game that had a 1b Umpire Named Chad McConnell-- you might want to check and see if he is a big12 ump

To all who use Graveline's addresses, you must remember, some are as old as 3 years ago. I have not got back Dave Yocum yet either. This is not Graveline's fault. When I first started mailing, I got back alot of RTS's. Now, I research them on my own. If Graveline had an address posted, I use it as a starting point and then verify. Rich Ireland for example is his parents address. I did some research and got his true home addy. If you do your own legwork, then you will insure greater success.

big one today
kyle abbott 20/20
c.o baseball chapel
Box 1366
Ocean City, NJ
08226
check out baseballchapel.org...it lists the team chaplin for every major and minor legue team...surprising # of ex big leaguers and minor leaguers there
kyle has some sentimental value to me...i got him back in 93 when i was just starting this was all sorts of incompitent. back then i would only make it to 10 games a year having cards of like 5-10 players. also got back don gordon, onld indians big league cards and of course line drive AA c.o unlimited potential, same addy as bryan hickerson listed a few posts above
