Michael Brantley

Fyi

---------------
Hey everyone, just an FYI, but Josh Kusnick (Michael Brantley's agent) will be on my radio show this Thursday at 9:30pm ET. The direct link to Thursday's show is below: Cleveland and Indians talk radio show | Smoke Signals - Cleveland Fan Live

Josh will be on for a few segments and my co-host Paul and I will ask the obvious questions pertaining to the Indians trade for Brantley and other things, and the phone lines will be open for anyone who wants to call in to speak to Josh and ask whatever they want. Phone number to call is 646-716-8012.

Michael Brantley himself is also schedule to be on, but as an FYI will not be taking calls from the fans (only his agent). As a reminder, for those that cannot listen live, the show is podcasted and can be downloaded and listened to at anytime by visiting the link I provided above or at Sports online radio shows and cleveland internet talk radio by The Cleveland Fan Live | BlogTalkRadio .

Hope many of you tune in, and remember the show is still a WIP.;-) Should be an informative hour. Josh is not what you would expect from an agent, and makes for an awesome interview. And this should be the first radio/TV interview in Cleveland for Brantley.

He wont be going there. He's in big league camp and going to AAA.

For what it's worth Im speaking at Arizona State and the University of Florida, are those two places up to your standards?

In 1138 ML ABs with Seattle ('86-'89), Mickey Brantley hit .259-32-125. I wonder if Michael will surpass these numbers with the Indians. Will he ever get a shot with Sizemore, Gutierrez and Choo roaming the OF? I wouldn't be surprised if the Indians trade him during the winter for more pitching. If he wasn't a AAAA player at best, I doubt the Brewers would have traded him. With guys like Lorenzo Cain, Freddy Parejo, Caleb Gindl, Cutter Dykstra, Hitanel Arias, Jose Rengel and Jose Garcia in the system, I think the Brewers will be OK.

Someone call and ask if he will be signing his 08 Bowman this year or if there is still too much money available out there to do so.

You know alot of 21 year old 4-A players? Mike is going to be in big league camp, going to AAA to start, then get called up barring injury sometime in 09. Did you list every player in the brewers system there? Aside from Cain none of those guys are anywhere near Brantley. Sizemore is going to be shifted to a corner spot in the OF to make better use of his power (presumably dropping him to the 3 hole) while moving brantley to CF and the leadoff spot (thats the plan at least) Good guess though. At least you think Cain's worthy, Ill let him know. I'm his agent too.

Mike signed an exclusive autograph contract with PCM sports in chicago. I think everything I did worked. You all get to deal with PCM now. Not to mention the signing he did here.

Nevermind. If I read the first post more carefully I wouldn't have asked this question. Good luck Josh. Hopefully all the angry autograph seekers will be screened out by the person answering the phone.

BBA APPRAISAL OF MICHAEL AFTER SABATHIA TRADE: Brantley, 21, rarely strikes out and, in fact, the lefthanded batter has walked more than he has whiffed at every stop in his pro career. A seventh-round pick from Fort Pierce (Fla.) Central High in 2005, he batted .319/.395/.398 in 420 at-bats for Huntsville, but his contact-oriented approach limited him to just four homers and 17 doubles in 106 games. Brantley is an average-at-best center fielder who also has dabbled in left field and first base. He's the son of Mickey Brantley, who played for the Mariners from 1986 to 1989.

How long will he continue to ride his dad's coattails? Average-at-best doesn't sound like SUPERSTAR to me. As a Brewers Fan, I'll be cheering for the guys in the system before I cheer for the "player to be named later."

BBA's 2008 SOUTHERN LEAGUE TOP 20 REPORT FOR BRANTLEY - RELEASED 9/30/08

19. Michael Brantley, of/1b, Huntsville (Brewers)

B-T: L-L Ht.: 6-2 Wt.: 180 Age: 21 Drafted: Brewers '05 (7)

Believed to be one of the prospects on the list of players to be named that the Indians can choose from to finalize the C.C. Sabathia trade with the Brewers, Brantley has excellent strike-zone discipline. He ranked second in the minors this year in plate appearances per strikeout (17.7) and has walked more than he has whiffed at every stop in his pro career.

Brantley has good bat speed and a pure swing, lining balls to all fields and doing a good job of going the other way against lefties. The drawback to his contact-oriented approach is that he has well below-average power, with his four homers this season doubling his career total from three previous pro seasons.

The son of former big leaguer Mickey Brantley, he has a good feel for the game at the plate and on the basepaths. He runs well but gets mixed reviews for his defense in center, because he sometimes gets poor jumps and has a below-average arm. He spent time at first base and left field, but his bat doesn't profile well at either position.

THIS MIGHT BE WHY THE BREWERS WERE GLAD THE INDIANS SELECTED HIM OVER THE PLAYERS I MENTIONED EARLIER. I THINK IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE WHO'S THE BETTER MLB PLAYER IN 5 YEARS...LORENZO CAIN OR MICHAEL BRANTLEY? GO BREWERS!
