No, Im sure Jose Contraras defected for the love of the game. A large Yankee contract had nothing to do with it.

We should ask Yuniesky Bentancourt or Alex Sanchez about life in Cuba. Sanchez spent more than a year living in a small hut in Guantanamo Bay in 1994 waiting for a chance to get to the US and Bentancourt dodged bullets and risked his life floating across the Caribbean to make it to the US.

I guess they did all that because life in Cuba isn't too bad. That $20/month they get for being on the Cuban National must have given them second thoughts about leaving????

Yeah I think I'll ask Barnstormer Yamel Guevara how it was living there in Cuba. He was feature recently in a sporting news article which was very eye opening. Im pretty sure these guys risk everything when they defect to come here ..hmm ...and that includes leaving their families!

Watever this kid is just looking for attention. I have a question for you: If Cuba is so great and they for pride not wealth how come Cubas finest are all playing MLB and leaving their own country, there country of pride, to go play in the US?

oh yeah,
and if they are the best how come the majority wash out or are journeymen in american baseball? they don't defect to the south african league for a reason. american baseball is the best.
