Chinese Baseball Showboating!

I was watching the end of U.S. Baseball and the homer run given to a guy named Yang Yang I believe lol. He was raising his hand in the air and pumping his fist showboating in the 9th and team USA slaughtered them 9-1. Also China hit 5 U.S. batsman and Laporta was taken to the hospital for procaution reasons. I don't get it. You are getting beat bad and your strolling like Kirk Gibson. Am I missing something?

Actually I think they hit 6 USA batters. Beaning LaPorta finally got a pitcher tossed. Davey Johnson was hot. I know these guys love playing in the Olympics for there country, but if the IOC is going to have subpar umpiring then I'd think twice about risking my million dollar career. At least that won't be a problem in London.

who knows if it comes to Chicago which would be great in my case. Hope Laporta is ok after saying he was dizzy. Technically they are prospects, I would like to see a mix of pro-college players actually.

You could say that, lol.

I saw that too. That really annoyed me. You just don't do that in baseball. The announcers were talking about it. There's not going to be a punishment, but I think there should be. I'm all for the promotion of baseball worldwide, especially after the IOC announced there would be no more baseball and softball in the Olympics after 08 for some reason along the lines that they're 'not international' sports, but if China and other countries are just gonna jump in to the mix, SOMEONE should teach them the ropes and subtleties of the game.

And bearfan, not really sure what you're saying, but they can pick anyone not on an MLB 40-man roster before some date to be on a team. There's actually a college pitcher on the USA team, Stephen Strasburg, who you probably (and if you haven't, should) have heard of.

Cricket is more of a worldwide game. Played by more people and cricket would have its best players at the event unlike baseball.

also bear in Mind that the American team was throwing at the Chinese and there were some VERY unsportsmanlike plays - Wei Wang (catcher for China) was injured and will be out for the rest of the season - this matters because he is a Mariners Prospect, a LOT of the players we have in the MLB (and prospects) play for their home countries during the Olympics (How many of YOUR favorite players are from South America?)
