5-1 with 11 games to go in August

Rayd defeat Angels 6-4

Story of the game was Bj Upton's assuming a ball he hit was a HR and getting tagged out at 2nd on a smart play by Tex.

What do you do with a player that doesn't run hard ?

ESPN (Eastern Sports Propaganda Network) 2 is set to air the Rays vs Rangers game on Wednesday

Rays maintain 4.5 game lead on the Red Sox

He needs to be benched until he figures out he isn't Manny Ramirez.

I'm not really a Rays fan, but I'm pulling for them to make it. Great thread btw.

im not a rays fan but it think it would be great if they went all the way. it would possibly show the other gm's that your better off drafting well and bringing your own guys up to the bigs than spending big bucks on free agents

I became a rays fan at the end of last year when i became friends w Ben Zobrist. I have been pulling for them since then and its been great to see them doing so well! I really think they can pull out the division, and hopefully the playoffs! Go Rays!

or it would show that if you suck a lot you'll have a lot of top 3 draft picks and be able to have successful drafts...

If that were true we would see the Royals and Pirates winning this season.
Rays Top draft picks helping: hmmmm David Price no, Delmon Young He is not here, Jeff N-MAN in Durham, Wade Townsend hmmm wasting his life away Vero. No Desmond Jennings, Wade Davis, Reid Brignac, or Jacob Mcgee

The only one is Bj Upton and Evan Longoria who is hurt. Its a bunch of cast offs that gel well.....

6-1 with 10 games to go in August

Rayd defeat Angels 4-2

the royals and pirates are just 100% failures of organizations. they can't draft and they cant afford to sign free agents.

the rays have talented youngsters because they draft at the top of each round. they can then trade away the prospects.

then theres always the carlos pena that has a comeback

Angels win 5-4

6-2 with 9 games to go in August

1st game where Carl Crawford's defense (since his injury) would have made a difference

My local Fox channel has a big decision on Saturday . Are we going to see the Rays game or the Braves game on Fox Saturday baseball ?

Local channel decided to go with the Braves game. Oh well....

8 more games to go in August

Red Sox have already lost and a Rays win today would give them a 5.5 game lead.... Currenty loosing 0-1 in the 4th....

Right now if the season ended both the Red Sox and Yankees would not be in the playoffs.

Tommorow game has been picked up by TBS sports.

Wow, what a come back today.

5.5 games over Boston

Came up with some new math.

100 wins is a must so they need to go 21-15 the rest of the way

Maybe worse case for the Wild Card they go 19-17.

Ok, I am a Yankees fan (duh!) but I will cheer for the Rays as long as they keep Boston out of first. Nice to see they variety of winners (and losers for that matter, Colorado and Houston) that we've had these last few years. Except for Boston... It proves that money doesn't buy championships.

Oh, for the record, the Yankees haven't won a world Series in 7 years. Just a reminder for those that say that the Yankees buy the World Series.

Go Rays!

Baseball Prospectus % of making playoffs:

American League National League
Angels 99.9% Cubs 98.9%
Rays 97.5% Brewers 84.2%
Red Sox 84.7% Diamondbacks 69.9%
White Sox 71.3% Mets 61.1%
Twins 41.3% Phillies 38.6%
Yankees 4.6% Dodgers 29.1%

Just in case though, Rays need the Yankees to win the series against the Red Sox. It would be nice to have the Angels and Red Sox battle it out in the 1st Round.

September starts today

It will be a month like no other in Rays history.

The Rays went 21-7 in August and have a 5.5 game lead over Boston
