Remember when he was managing Hudson Valley, he used to commute home to Albany most night. That commute is much harder now, but I am sure he won't be complaining.

Joe Sclafani is playing winter ball Down Under. The penal colony is a fitting place for someone who gets caught stealing as much as he does.

The Valleycats are again looking for ideas on who the next Heritage series bobblehead doll will be. As you can imagine, Bernie Williams, Pettite and Posada are leading the suggestions.

Capital Region sports ikon Rip Rowan has passed away. I can remember seeing Rip all the time way back in the 80's at Heritage Park. I have his 1989 albany Yankees cards in with my team set. This card was only available on request from the Ripper himself. RIP Rip, thanks for all you did for our local sports teams.

Just heard that on the news. I knew him a bit from my sports media days. Great guy. Also, my dad sorta looks like him, so he'd get mistaken for Rip from time to time.

Troy native and former Haymaker Bill Craver. Got booted from the game in a gambling scandal with the Louisville Grays in 1877. They could do a "Don't bet on baseball" night and invite Pete Rose.

Queensbury's Brendan Harris signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers. I think he's trying to play for every organization in baseball before retiring.

Ex-'Cat Felipe Paulino declined a AAA assignment from the Royals and is now a free agent. He's coming off injury, so who knows if someone will give him a shot.

Makes sense. He throws hi 90s. With 12-13 man pitching staffs, he's the kind of live arm you can stash in your bullpen and roll him out in low pressure situations throughout the year.

And I know Tommy's not an uber prospect, but do the Yankees really have 40 rule 5 eligible players in their organization who are better than him?

Unofficially, Ed Romero is going to be back as 'Cats manager in 2014. Steinhorn as well. Doug White has taken another roll in the organization. Don't know his replacement as pitching coach.
