Tropical Storm / Hurricane Fay

My area is supposed to be getting this storm tomorrow night and Thursday. If I am not on that is why, plus if it really hits that fan, my job will be non-stop for who knows how long.

Hope the rest of you Floridians have been spared damage so far.

Good luck and hope you don't have any major damage. Stay out of those doughnut shops, too, not good for cops to be seen their during a disaster

On the bright side, I'm reading The Great Deluge by Douglas Brinkley about Katrina. Trust me, I don't think it can get that bad, at least not this time.

I got very lucky... Pinellas county on the west coast. First reports had it coming and hitting landfall right at us but it started moving east very early and it went right across the state with us getting nothing but clouds and small wind gusts

Man, I miss those hurricanes.... actually I don't, but at least they give you some warning to hunker down or get out of town. The tornadoes out here just crop up and you might get 10 minutes warning if you are lucky - we dont' have basements here either. We also had a freakish windstorm in 2002 that left the city without power for 2 weeks. It was worse than I remember Hugo being in 89, but at least we knew Hugo was coming - that windstorm (we called it Hurricane Elvis) was out of nowhere. I'm waiting for the big earthquake though, not the one in California, the one on the Mississippi.
