1. Stephen Strasburg: 6'4 220 RHP that sits in the mid to high 90s.
2. Kyle Gibson: 6'5 180 RHP that is incredibly projectable for a college SP. He throws in the low 90s (with room for added velo) with a plus slider.
3. Alex White: 6'3 200 RHP that also sits in the low 90s with a good slider.
4. Matt Graham: 6'4 200 RHP that already throws low 90s for a HSer.
5. Chris Jenkins: Huge 6'7 righty that scouts believe will hit 100 down the road.
6. Matt Purke: Big bodied lefty that throws can hit the low 90s.
7. Ryan Sadler: Projectable righty.
8. Jacob Turner*: Anothe rprojectable righty.
9. Andy Oliver: 6'4 200 righty collegian that had some recent trouble with his team (declared ineligible for an unknown reason).
10. Kendal Volz: Another big college righty.

Catchers
1. Austin Maddox*: Very big for a catcher (6'3 and over 200) but has a very strong arm and incredible bat speed that lends to both average and power.
2. Robert Stock: Will 19 when he graduates from USC. Very strong arm, but his bat has not developed as expected. He still has tons of power.
3. Max Stassi*: Much smaller than Maddox, but is a good HS C prospect.

First Basemen
1. Dustin Ackley: May not have enough power to stick at 1B. Some think he could play second, where his bat would really be quite impressive.
2. Jeff Malm*: A huge lefty HSer with good power
3. Dustin Dickerson: 6'4 200 masher out of the college ranks.
4. Justin Bour: Even bigger than Dickerson (6'4 250).
5. Miles Head*: Built like Billy Butler, Travis Snider, Brett Wallace, etc. He is listed as a 3B but may outgrow the position. He has excellent raw power.

Shortstop
1. Mychel Givens*: 6'3 180 athlete with a huge arm and good speed.
2. Grant Green: Big SS out of USC that some think will be a Top 5 pick.
3. Deven Marrero*: Cousin of minor leaguer Chris Marrero...seems to be in the mold of Carlos Guillen.
4. Cooper Moseley*: A bit on the smaller side.
5. Ryan Jackson: Large SS that is a switch hitter.

Outfield
1. Aaron Miller
2. Donovan Tate- No way he signs unless a Top 3 pick. He is the #1 college prospect and visited both Florida and USC last week.
3. Gabe Cohen

Ackley is an oustanding player, but is injury prone. Aaron Miller (Baylor) has tons of power, just has to learn how to harness it.

Wow, talk about a horrible year for San Diego. They could not even get the worse record to get Strasburg.

Giants #6 pick......they've done a nice job the past few years [Lincecum, Burriss, Bumgarner, Alderson, Posey] can't wait to see who they add next!

Did he start pitching right after July this year because when I saw him play with team USA he was using his left hand.....

As a Braves fan, It's odd to see a Top 10 pick, Hopefully they can get a difference maker? How will the 09 draft compare to drafts in the past 3-4 years?

I am wanting the Braves to take Grant Green and the Rays to take Kentrail Davis from the Vols.

Andrew Oliver does pitch LH. Boras is the reason he can not play anymore:

Oliver retain a NY based law firm out of high school to assist him with the draft. The firm advised him to turn down 400,000 from the Minnesota Twins. Oliver recently terminated that firm and hired Scott Boras. Boras advised Andy not to pay the legal bill of $113,000 to NY firm for their past advising which added up to over 300 hours. Under NCAA rules, in order to maintain your eligibility, student athletes are required to pay their advisor at his or her normal rate. (NCAA Memo dated October 2, 2007 to all college baseball players) But, what really did the kid in was Boras wrote a letter to the firm on behalf of Andy (NCAA violation). Boras was brazen enough to have done something no representative in their right mind would do

Kindof surprised Boris would do something like that when he knew he wasn't supposed to....but then again, it is Boris...so I'm not totally surprised.

Type A and B agents that will effect the draft order somewhat:

Bold are free agents
Bold an italics are players with options

Type C free agents no longer garner any compensation. Type A free agents represent the top 20% of players at their position category, while Type B free agents represent the top 21-40% of players at their position category. Type A's prior to this offseason used to be the top 30%, Type B's used to be the top 31-50%.

Type A and Type B players necessitate that the Player's former Club receive a sandwich pick in between rounds one and two. Additional picks in the second, third and fourth rounds are exchanged from one club to another for the losses of Type A free agents.

The first 15 picks are protected.
