Matt was given the day off (good thing since game went 16 innings!!!) he was 1 for 1 as a pintch hitter, raising his average up to .538!!!!! Only been 6 games, but he's looking real good vs all these A-ball kids... can't wait to see what he does in AA in June.

BTW...Keys "gave up" in the 16th inning. they scored a run in the top of the 16th to make it 5-4 keys, and then put in a position player in the bottom of the inning to "close out the win", and he gave up 2 runs without getting an out! Pitchcounts suck...they RAN OUT of pitchers they were allowed to use, so they jusy had to "give" the game to Kinston. Now they are 4-2 instead of 5-1.

i saw him play last weekend. He was awesome the real deal. Makes being a Pirates fan tougher. However, with boros as his agent you can see how he dropped in the draft.

Its WAY too early to say he's the real deal just yet. He's beating up A-ball pitchers.
Lets see how he does in the pitchers league of Double-A.

DUHHH.... that's the point... Unlike most #1 picks the O's have had in the last Decade.... This one looks good so far...

Poor O's fans have had to get excited over past #1 picks like:
Alvie Shepard
Josh Cenate
Chris Smith
Keith Reed
Beau Hale
Mike Paradis
Tommy Davis (was a #2 pick but there first pick of the draft that year)
Pappy Ndungidi
Darnell McDonald

Other than Brian Roberts they have made pretty bad picks from 1995-2005, including 7, yes SEVEN #1 picks in the 2000 draft (Brian Roberts and 6 guys out of affiliated baseball)

I saw Wieters play in person at Georgia Tech when I was in Atlanta last year watching the final four and was blown away at how good he was.

His arm strength and accuracy behind the plate were the things that popped out the most for me.

Makes me feel smart that I got him on like 10 things that day.

Wieters update... 2 for 4 tonight with a Walk and his 3rd HR of the season... BA is up to .524!!!! Yeah,hitting over .500 is actually going to be BAD for him. He will be have such expectations, it may be hard for him to live up to all the hype. They need to get him OUT OF A-BALL NOW! Guy is hitting .524???? and he was supposed to start in AA anyway but they want him to work with the Keys Manager since he is a former Catcher and was the White sox Catching instructor for 11 years.

All in all it's a good day when ever you go 2 for 4 and your BA DROPS!!!!!!!

He was "over drafted" to help entice him to play on the GREEK Olympic team (which Angelos runs/funds)...and he did (even Pitched!)... So the scouts didn;t pick him as much as Angelos TOLD THEM to take him. The picks they made from 1990-2002 stand for them selfs... Mussina, B-Rob... Maybe you can count Mike Fontenot who we gave away in the Sammy Sosa deal.
