tonights wieters watch: Was not starting tonight since he was NOT in the building (flight delayed returning from Funeral on Monday of a Close Friend). Arrived midway through the game and had a pinch RBI single late in the game. 1 for 1 raises his season average to an even .500!!!!

Good thing the Cubs didn't take Wieters. Top player in the 07 draft class. Can't wait to see him in Norfolk and then Baltimore.

Or Porcello or Parker. Instead we took a kid in the top three who might make it to a full season team this year. Might.

let the PANIC begin... Wieters first Professional "0-for"... he was 0-3 and taking out in the 7th when he was involved in a home plate collision where the runner hit him hard enough to knock the ball out of hit mit and send him on his A**. He was removed from the game but didn;t seem to be hurt after the game as he still signed leaving the field, and was the last guy into the locker room and first guy out, so he didnt seem to make a stop in the trainers room.

the bad news... 0-3 sinks his average down to a piddly .444

Just hit HOMERUN #4.... 3rd innning of the game so far he's 1 for 2 and pulled the Average up to .448

the slump continues.. 0-3 today (1 for his last 15) and he's down to a human-like .338...

On a side note: JAKE ARRIETA is AWESOME.... another great start, 7.0 Innings 8 K's 2 Hits, 0 runs...and the bull pen blows his win in the 9th. 39 K's in 32.2 innins 2.20 ERA in 6 starts, only one Bad outing where he gave up 4 ERs (1/2 of his season total). You take away that one start and he has a 1.10 ERA in his other 30.0 innings, following 16.2 perfect innings in the AFL last fall, and he has some SICK professional #'s.

I was in Potomac for this...got to see his impressive bat, but unfortunately was DH today as they had a day game following a night game, so they gave his knees a rest.

This kid is huge, switch hits as a catcher, hits for average and power...no wonder there's so much hype around him.
