My 2007 Photos

Taylor Teagarden has played in only 38 games since the Rangers drafted him in 2005. (Shawn E. Davis/MLB.com)

I took this at the Texas Longhorns alumni game - notice the aluminum bat & burnt orange batting helmet.

I just got a new f2.8 300mm lens for my Canon camera. Man that thing is heavy. I can't wait to try it out. Also a 1.4x & 2x extenders to boost it up to 420mm and 600mm respectively. I also bought an external flash so hopefully my head shots will be brighter.

Yep, as much as I would love a 2.8, it would be waaaaay too bulky and almost impossible to get autographs as well.

Have fun, Shawn! You should see vast improvement on your shots.

It weighs about 8 lbs but I have a monopod to support it. I don't do autos until after games so I don't have a problem with that either.

did you get the IS or non-IS? I have the IS though barely ever use that feature, just worth it when you need it. It's not to bulky but I guess thats what your priorities are, mines gettin pics so its perfect cuz I'm not around other people with it in a crowd (like when gettin graphs). Of course I lug around a suitcase of equipment so used to carrying a lot. The 300 2.8 Canon is an investment over a period of time - well unless you're just loaded with lots of extra cash.

Auto wise out back make sure the media director at (insert team/stadium) isn't a jerk. I know one teams old media director, who is long gone now thank god, didn't want media getting autos outside after the games because he felt it violated your privelage in the media, so he warned one photographer and when he didn't stop he banned him from getting media credentials. Bunch of crap, you should be allowed to do it out back since it's your own time and doing what everyone else is doing. I only know one photog who does get any graphs though, and he was the one that was banned (actually he's been banned 6 times now by 4 teams, he just got another one from that same team for diff. reasons, or so I heard). Most though don't seem to care.

Nice picture of Kazmar. I hope he makes it to the bigs. He played summer ball here for 1 year when he was in college.

Luke Hochevar has given up just one earned run over 10 2/3 innings in his last two starts. (Shawn E. Davis/MLB.com)

This photo was also used on the Wranglers website.

--------------------------------------------------------------

This photo was the reason I overslept this morning. I was uploading Hochevar photos until about 1 am last night.
