Did the Carolina Hurricanes at the hotel. They came in late the night before so it was an optional skate and only 5 went over. I did get Doug Weight 2/2 and Bret Hedican 2/2. Hedican gave me a hard time having 2 of the same card. I told him they were the only 2 cards the shop had. He said "Do you need both of the same card signed?" I told him, "No... it's not a problem or if you want you can personalize it." He proceeded to sign and said "no problem."

Then before the game everyone except Vasicek, and I think Aaron Ward, signed. I didn't have a lot on these guys but here goes...

Cam Ward 1 signed blank 4x6
Martin Gerber 1 signed blank 4x6
Cory Stillman 1/1
Brind'Amour 2/2
Recchi 3/3
Eric Staal 2/2 cards and 1 personalized (I asked) hockey news magazine photo.

They actually were a great signing team. Well, Tuesday I have one shot so I am going after Alexander the Great.

Hey everyone... did the Tampa Yankees and Threshers/ Sarasota Reds this weekend. Only had a couple of cards but got who I wanted.

I chatted with Cole Hamels and Zach Segovia for almost an hour one game, Alan Horne, and Christian Garcia... all were phenomenal guys to chat with about baseball and things in general. Homer Bailey gave the best quote... I asked if he collected his own cards for himself or his family. He said, "No, I can just look in a mirror". He was a great guy to chat with also. Talking to some of the players I did notice they don't mind signing but are very aware of what goes on.

I have updated my site now with ALL in persons and when I get back home I will update the TTMs.

Over the weekend I got the following:

Greg Gross 1/1
Mike Costanzo 2/2
Cole Hamels 1 ss baseball but I think this one will bleed
Zach Segovia 1/1
Homer Bailey 1/1
Hector Made 1 program
Alan Horne 1 program
Christian Garcia 1 ss baseball and 1 program
Philip Hughes 1/1
Jeff Marquez 2/2
Brett Gardner 1/1
Matt Carson 1/1

Had a great weekend as I got to see a ton of baseball... good games, great hanging with the players charting, and just... baseball... ahhhhhhhh!

Check out my site for all the scans from IP since spring training, including the Penguins (Crosby), Hurricanes (Staal), Devil Rays, Orioles, etc.

Michael Clayton TB Buccaneers WR 4/4 ...walked in at the end of the signing, went right up to the table, then left... 20 minutes to drive there, get autos, and return home. Love these kind of days.

DRays/yankees in the lot...

I hate the Yankees... all I have to say about that.

Did get Crawford, Gomes, and Kazmir (had him add 06 ALL STAR)

Didn't have anything on me for Seo, Meadows, and Hollins who all signed.

Also, TTM I got Alexander Ovechkin 2/2 4x6s so I was quite ecstatic!

Met up with Ben (FLautographs)... always great to see him as there is usually something good happening and plenty of autograph talk!

Did Daytona/Palm Beach

Coaches:
Derek Lilliquist 4/4
Derrick May 3/3 (chatted a while - we have mutual friends and he is from my hometown in Delaware)

Daytona - Sam Fuld 1/1
PB - Mitch Boggs 1/1
Colby Rasmus 1/1 and 1/1 CIC that I made of him and his brother. His brother came to the game but I didn't feel like looking for him or staying after. Hope to see Cory Thursday at GCL game.

Oh yeah... the main reason I went 2 1/2 hours....

Vince Carter 1/1 - every year he does a game there for his charity... got an 8x10 last year and a card this year.

How is Carter at the event and does he pretty much sign [anything] without a problem?

He was OK... if you know Vince, you know that him even looking at you and acknowledge you are actually speaking is a highlight... I didn't see him turn down one thing to sign.

I had the impression that he was one of those guys who absolutely never picked up a pen to sign anything for anyone [i.e. Kevin Garnett] and was never really accessible [to sign], unless he was being paid $$$ by a company [like Fleer before they went down or Steiner Sports].

Your impression about Vince's signing habits is correct. That is why Steve and I have made the Vince Carter night at the Daytona Cubs an annual tradition since trying to get him at the hotel or at the arena is impossible.
