Cubsphill 2009 IP

3/14/2009

Not a good auto day as I went to Camelback and had no prior knowledge about where the fields were. I was going to just get the W/Sox milbers in the morning but didn't know where there fields were until they were already taking infield and bp so I just got pics of them. In the mean time I was trying to get Joe Torre and Don Mattingly as they were watching a morning game.

Omar Vizquel 1/1 ssomlb
Harold Baines 1/1 spomlb
Gordon Beckham 1/1 ssomlb
Chris Davis 7/7
Brent Morel 9/9

A's @ Angels
Another crap tastic day autographing. I got to the Angels fields at about 8:30 to find all the players were already out.

no milb autos...

Ryan Sweeney 1/1 ssomlb
Mark Ellis 2/2

Nomar kept skipping over cards from what I saw.

angels @ giants

wasn't able to get the minors in the morning like I had planned.

Pablo Sandoval 9/9 cards, 1/1 ssomlb
Torii Hunter 1/2

What a huge day, right?

3/17/2009
Indians @ Rangers

I didn't know the Rangers don't open up the minor league fields until 10am so I had 2 hours to kill.

Josh Hamilton 1/1 SI... he signed a ton but avoided everyone who he's already signed for. He also did not sign for kids when it was obvious they were getting them signed for someone else
Justin Smoak 1/1 ssomlb, he signed for a while after the game but instead I was wasting my time for Nolan Ryan after the game when he only signed for about half of the line.
Matt LaPorta 1/1 spomlb
Corey Young 4/4

It's been a pretty crappy trip autograph wise. The quantity is down for this trip primarily because I've been seeing mostly MLB stars and scrubs...very few prospects...

Did LaPorta personalize everything, and did you see him sweet spot anything? Was Hamilton doing multiples? You still had a productive 2 days with Hunter, Hamilton, Smoak, and LaPorta! Not too shabby!

LaPorta was not personalizing. He was in a rush to get back to the dugout but was stopping for everyone that called his name. I did not see any sweet spotting... I asked and he didn't acknowledge my request.

Someone put a page of 9 in front of Hamilton and he signed about 4 of them. If you tried to double dip though, he avoided you. He was also quick to call out anything the obvious dealers did. For example, any little push or any of the three there trying to squeeze in front of people.

Some good autos, yeah, but I haven't been able to get anywhere near what I've been expecting to this point.

Wish I could have gotten way more done. The only prob is I've been going to different facilities than last time.

I should clean up on your Angels cards this weekend.

Clayton Richard 1/5 he was 1 pering everyone

Really? Both days I saw him, he signed for a couple of minutes. He was also very talkative.

Cubs @ Mariners, Padres @ Mariners

Carlos Triunfel 1/1 ssomlb
Phillippe Aumont 1/1 ssomlb
Greg Halman 2/4
Adam Moore 6/6
Neal Cotts 2/2
Lou Pinella 1/1

The Mariners minors were heading in when I was trying to get some mlb players taking bp. I got up to the area they can stop in time to catch the players I could recognize (Triunfel, Aumont, Halman).

Oh, and Griffey 12/12 ssomlb's....j/k, he just rolled right past a group of 5 of us in his Ashton Martin.

brewers @ angels
young il jung 4/4

wasn't able to get any other milbers. the players with cards always come out at the same time. i was the only one getting autos so it made it almost impossible to get multiple players.

bill hall 2/2
tony gwynn jr 1/2
prince fielder 1/1 8x10
corey hart 1/1
jason kendall 1/1
