Dale Murphy @ MS Braves game

Hi, tonight was Dale Murphy Appreciation Day with the Mississippi Braves and he was here to throw out the first pitch of the first game of a double header and sign autos. He began signing towards the end of the first game and signed quite a while. He was always one of my favorites so it was an amazing experience to get him. Below are the pics of what I got signed:

Thanks for looking!

William

Great job William!!! Murphy was one of my faves as well.
When I went to Saints camp a few weeks ago I went the Bass ProShop and saw the Braves stadium from accross the parking lot. Nice stadium.

I also went to this signing. Dale Murphy is an alltime great human being. He was very friendly with everyone and thanked people for being fans!! Anyway here are the items I got:

Braves authentic game hat 1/1 (thanks William)
Rookie card 1/1 (for a friend)

I couldn't resist the temptation to see my childhood hero again. He is the reason why I chose my user name on this message board. I went to the luncheon but skipped the game because of the drizzle and a desire to get home at a reasonable time. I waited until all of the regular people went through the line before I busted out my inventory.

Dale Murphy 16/16 - Jersey, Bat, Baseball, Magazine, 8x10, Book, Bobblehead, 9 Cards

All I can say is WoW! 16/16 is awesome, especially when he used to use ghostsigners and autopens back in the day through the mail.

I'd heard he was extremely nice, and kinda wish this event would've been on a weekend, I may have driven down for it.

So you admit it that you and Mid South are not "regular people"!

That's great to hear how great of a person he is-still. For the younger generation out there, he was a true MVP, hitting 35 HR's a year, when that was not the norm. The steroid era has unfortunately wiped guys like him off the map, in my opinion, for HOF consideration. When a guy like Brady Anderson hit 50 HR's ten years ago, I knew something was up.

Murphy touched on that while he was addressing the "crowd" (lunch for 220 was more like 100). He was naming former Braves players and when he said Hank Aaron he commented "Who by the way is still the all-time home run king" then tried to keep going before being interrupted by applause.

At 3:00, it looked like the rain wasn't going to let up but we had already gotten our money's worth out of the trip. It was entertaining watching Dale sign all of Murphy3's stuff. He had put his binder and flats in a stack within reaching distance of Dale and after signing a jersey, ball and bobblehead, he just reached over, grabbed the pile of stuff and started signing it. He got down to the binder and said "Are all these me?" but thumbed through realizing the MS Braves cards were there but just signed the first page of cards.

The real interesting part was watching all the local media standing off to the side with their cameras and microphones waiting until Dale was through signing BEFORE starting their interviews. He signed for about 20 minutes after the program and I've never been anywhere when the media waited behind the fans.
