Unfortunately I can't. I can 50/50 Andy Barkett or any Lakeland player besides Porcello and Tata (inactive).

5-9 Vero Beach at Lakeland

Vero and Lakeland played in Game 3 of their four game series. Luis Marte gave up 3 runs including a solo home run. Ryan Morse gave up only 3 hits in the Devil Rays 5-2 win over Lakeland. Zobrist was playing at 2B tonight.

Today was premium giveaway night. They gave away free Lakeland team photos. Some of the players faces you can't see due to the shade from their hats but I got most of the players to sign it and still looks nice. It has Freddy Dolsi and Justin Justice still on it with no Sborz, Tata, or Simons.

Below, Nickerson, and Porcello were all in uniform today and Matt O'Brien was in the stands. Porcello and Matt Walker will be pitching in tomorrow's 6 o'clock game.

May 15- Dunedin at Lakeland

The Dunedin Blue Jays were in town to take on the Lakeland Flying Tigers Thursday night. Wild game around as Ramon Garcia made his Lakeland debut giving up 3 home runs to Dopirak, Emaus and Emanuele. Lakeland countered with home runs by Ryan Strieby and Brennan Boesch and excellent pitching by Sborz and Witt to take the game 8-7.

The gates were open early to honor a lot of little league teams on the field. No one really to be in charge of them as they engulfed me when all the players started coming out. They were just screaming at the players by number to the point the Dunedin guys just cut across the field to get to the other side so they didn't have to pass them. Every player was just getting mobbed to sign their hat, t-shirt, glove, whatever and no one had a pen.

I ended up just going to the other side to wait for Arencibia to finish warming up the pitcher. Even though Gustavo Chacin is listed on Dunedin, I never saw him. Tata ducked out to the bullpen and went the same way back to the clubhouse.

There was a rare Casey Crosby sighting tonight. He was there with Clelland, Dlugach, Graham, O'brien and some others to enjoy the game. I asked him to sign and he asked me which one I wanted signed. I told him I've been trying to get him since spring and needed him for other people and he was cool enough to sign the page. Only time I've ever seen him at a game. I would give him a try by mail to those needing him since he should be rehabbing here for a while.

Angel Castro was promoted to Erie and replaced on the roster by Guillermo Moscoso. Tomorrow is team poster giveaway day. Hopefully it's not the same picture they used for team photo giveaway day!

Mar 17- Dunedin at Lakeland

Dunedin was in town for Game 3 of their series with Lakeland. Andy Barkett was ejected again after a couple ridiculous calls. Kyle Ginley improved to 3-0 allowing 5 hits with 4Ks in Dunedin's 4-2 win. Connor Falkenbach allowed only 1 hit in relief to get the save,

The gates were open at 3pm with a celebration of Armed Forces Day at 4 with a band and flag presentation. I was the only one by the clubhouse corner when I got there at 4:30. I got to see the relief pitchers on the field run and stretch who are always done by the time the gates usually open.

I had Gustavo Chacin one on one and asked him to sign. He mumbled something, pointed at the clubhouse and kept walking. Ouch. I never saw him again. He is not being used as a starter and did not pitch at all the whole series.

Here's where it got bad. A huge amount of little leaguers came out to walk on the field then afterwards they all came down where I was. If I hadn't been in the corner with the fence to my right I wouldn't have got anybody. I couldn't move at all. Kids were lined up all the way down the 1st base side.

I saw the Lakeland relievers just standing in the outfield. I called over Nick Martin and then asked him to see if he could get Wise or Tata to come over. Wise came over, I asked him to send Tata. Strieby came over and I asked him for Tata. Then I saw Tata and asked him myself. He said in a minute but he did come back over later. He was cool until he got mobbed by kids pushing and shoving wanting him to sign hats, gloves, t-shirts and even hands. He said "I don't sign anyone's hand" and took off.

I gave up and went to the other side to get JP. The pitchers on the DL, Eric Fowler and Billy Carnline were not there. David Corrente was there and signed but I didn't need him.

Dunedin won so I had to just tried to get Chad Blackwell before they turned off the lights for the fireworks. I got a picture with him but it was the last one on the roll and the flash didn't go off. Argh!

May 18- Palm Beach at Lakeland

Palm Beach made their only stop of the season in Lakeland tonight to play game 1 of their four game series with the Flying Tigers. Jonah Nickerson and Brandon Dickson were the starters. Nickerson was spectacular pitching a no-hitter until the 8th inning. After Jay Sborz loaded the bases, Brendan Wise came in to get the final out and the save in Lakeland's 4-0 win.

Kyle Mura was in the stands behind me so I asked him where David Kopp was since I didn't see him. He said after pitching last night he had some soreness in his shoulder and may miss his next start. Since he was not scheduled to pitch in Lakeland he stayed behind to have it checked out. Never saw any of the guys listed on the DL (Buckman, Daley, Henley, Maiques, Norrick, Vander Weg).

Any cards anyone sent me for Kopp and the DL guys will be sent back unsigned along with any cards of Tyler Herron, Mark McCormick, Jess Todd who were promoted to AA after cards were already sent to me.

I asked Duane Below in the stands where Ramon Garcia is since I haven't seen him on days he didn't start and he said either the bullpen or dugout. He never went by me to the dugout so he had to be in the bullpen. After we won all the bullpen guys came out including him so I asked him to sign. He saw the page and said "Wow you have a lot, why don't you get me in the parking lot?" and ran off to the clubhouse.

I got denied by Dennis Martinez before and after the game. We did go out to the parking lot to get him and he signed before he got on the bus. Also got Jordan Tata, Eddie Degerman, Brandon Dickson and Joe Coleman while waiting for him. Duane Below came out and said if I was waiting for Garcia that he was getting a HAIRCUT and would be a good 20-25 minutes so after I got Martinez I took off.

May 19- Palm Beach at Lakeland

Palm Beach battled Lakeland again last night in game 2 of their 4 game series. Starters were Matt O'Brien and Shaun Garceau. Garceau improved his record to 3-0 allowing 5 hits and struck out 3. Francisco Samuel got the save.

Palm Beach had three home runs with two by Daryl Jones and one by Andrew Brown. Jordan Tata pitched 3 innings until he gave up Jones 2nd home run. Then he was ejected after hitting the next batter Nick Derba on the first pitch. After he was replaced by Zach Simons, Palm Beach scored 5 more runs to win the game 13-2.

I really didn't have anything else to get signed after the game so I went over to the Palm Beach side to ask for Daryl Jones' cracked bat and Luke Gorsett's broken bat which they gave to me. Both were super nice about it. Gorsett talked about how he got it a hit with even though the bat broke in two and one part stuck in the ground.

May 20- Palm Beach at Lakeland

Game 3 of Lakeland's series with Palm Beach was Tuesday night. Brad Furnish took on Lakeland's Ramon Garcia. It was a 2-2 game until Palm Break broke through in the 9th for a 5-2 win. Josh Dew pitched a hitless inning of relief to get the win and improve to 2-0. Francisco Samuel got the save. Furnish signed before the game, rare for a starting pitcher.

Jon Mikrut was promoted to Springfield and was not there. Taking his spot on the roster and wearing #35 was Davis Bilardello promoted from Batavia.

Brandon Dickson and Jordan Tata were in the stands with the radar gun and Fernando Rodney was around to watch part of the game. After the game, I got ignored by Kyle Sadlowski but I was able to get the Cards pitching coach Dennis Martinez to sign.

Game 4 of the Palm Beach-Lakeland series was last night. Rick Porcello pitched 5 innings and gave up 9 hits for 4 runs with 3 strikeouts. He left the game with a 7 run lead and was replaced by Nick Martin who gave up back to back home runs to Gorsett and Brown, a double to Jones and then a home run to Descalso. There were 7 home runs total (Palm Beach-5, Lakeland-2).

The game was tied 11-11 after the 9th and Lakeland won 12-11 in the 11th with a game winning single by Scott Sizemore. Zach Simons got the win. I left after the 10th so all my results are pre-game.

5-28 Tampa at Lakeland

Tampa and Lakeland played in Game 2 in their series last night. Michael Dunn and Duane Below were the starters. Below pitched 7 innings and allowed only 2 hits with 7 strikeouts. Jay Sborz pitched 2 innings of hitless relief. Tigers won 4-0. Lou Whitaker was in the stands and no he didn't charge me! Best mood I've seen him in ever.

I missed Hilligoss, Ledesma, Calzado and Perez getting others. Eduardo Nunez came out too close to game time so he said he would sign after the game and he did.

May 29- Tampa at Lakeland

Tampa and Lakeland played in game 3 Thursday Night. Starting pitchers were Grant Duff and Jonah Nickerson. Cale Iorg hit a three run home run to tie the game at 4-4. In the 9th after Shawn Roof apparently tagged the runner at third and the ump called safe. Andy Barkett came out and yelled at the ump, stepped back and turned his hat around and yelled at him some more until he was tossed. The runner eventually scored to win the game for Tampa 5-4.

Zach McAllister was promoted to Tampa today so I brought cards of him just in case. He was in the stands with the radar gun along with Garcia, Pope, Nova and Dunn.

June 2- Sarasota at Lakeland

Sarasota and Lakeland played in Game 1 of their three game series Monday nicht. Starters were Duane Below and Alex Smit. Lakeland had 6 errors in the game. Smit pitched 6 innings giving up 4 hits with 8 strikeouts. Justin Tordi and Jose Castro had solo home runs to win the game for the Reds 8-2. Cale Iorg had 3 hits including a home run in the game for the Tigers.

Joel Zumaya was in uniform today. He is scheduled to pitch in relief tomorrow or so I've heard. No idea on how long he will be here. Joel didn't sign on the way to dugout but said he would sign after. He snuck back to the clubhouse sometime during the game because he was already sitting next to the clubhouse after the game and walked in when the game was over.

Al Kaline was there but was not in a good mood. Everyone was still waiting for Todd Frazier to come out. Instead of walking the back way Kaline goes right in front by the people waiting to get into the stands. Someone asked him to sign and he was very irritated, scribbled a couple sigs, mumbled and walked through the crowd.

Todd Frazier did not play in the game so he came out very close to the start of the game. He signed but he was in a rush to get to the dugout. I missed Phillippe Valiquette getting Vazquez and both times Scott Carroll walked by I was getting someone else and no one stopped him.

Actually if all Kaline did was mumble something, he was in a good mood. Because if he was in a bad mood he would have cussed everyone out. I have seen him yell at everyone, little kids, old ladies you name it.
