Mariners and Oregon Football 9/8

Started the day of going to the hotel for the Mariners, then headed down to Comerica to get the Mariners in the park and then finished up doing Oregon Football postgame @ Michigan.

Here are the totals:

Mariners Hotel:
Ben Broussard: 3/3
Brandon Morrow: 3/3
Jeremy Reed: 1/3
Richie Sexson: 1/2, blew up at some kid who was there who asked Richie to put him batting average under his autograph as a joke. Richie actually got in his face and started swearing at him it was pretty funny. I think he signed just to show this kid up.
Charlton Jimerson 1/1
Jarrod Washburn 1/1

Weaver and Vidro also signed but I was getting something to eat down the street and missed them.

Mariners Inside the Park:
Ryan Feierabend: 2/2
Ichiro: SP OMLB Ball (Black Ink Pen) I was actually on the Tigers side as they were just about to come off the field and I see a bunch of people start running to the corner of the dugout and I see Ichiro walking over. I get over there pretty quickly get a photo out then notice he is only using an ink pen, grab a baseball and get him 1 or 2 people later. It's the 1st time Ive seen him sign in Ink Pen only in the 10+ times Ive gotten him. He probably signed about 20-30 total autographs.

Kenji also signed about 10 over the top of the dugout as Ichiro was signing but I didnt bother trying for him as Ive gotten him in the past.

Also forgot to add I went for the Mariners postgame on Friday and only got George Sherill 4/4, I got flat turned down by about 4-5 guys and no one else would even look over getting on the bus.

I then headed up to Ann Arbor for postgame and got the following:
Dennis Dixon: 2 8x10's, really cool stood around and signed for a good 15 minutes while talking to family and friends and had no problem with multiples.
Phil Knight: 8x10 photo paper, For anyone that dosnt know he is the founder and owner of Nike. He also just donated 100 millon to Oregon's athletic program.
Harold Reynolds: 8x10 photo paper, gave me a nice huge autograph. I could only think he is there because he's from the state of Oregon.
Ahamd Rashad was also there signing but would not do blank photo paper or index cards.

I also got an Oregon team signed football with about 35 players on it.

Next up: Not really sure I might head down to Akron if they make the EL Championship also I'll probably go to Ann Arbor for Notre Dame next weekend.

The Mariners are the worst signing team at hotel in the MLB.

Is this former ESPN analyst Harold Reynolds?

Wow , Nice successes! You have 10 + Ichiro's?? I don't even have one and I have gone to a few Mariners gamesince he's been here. Congrats!!

That kid was asking for it! Richie has had a miserable year and I bet he was really mad!! Did Richie sign for the kid? Or did the kid ask for the average before he got to him?

I completly disagree with that. The Redsox, Yankees and Angels are much worse. I did the Yankees for 3 times the amount of time a few weeks ago at the same hotel and got shutout.

Yes, that was the Harold Reynolds that worked for ESPN. There was an article in the paper here that he grew up as an Oregon fan and still follows them.

Most of the Ichiro's I have gotten are from Peoria in spring training. He usually signs at least once a day down there. I have him on a 16x20, SI cover, Spring Training Program cover, Ball and probably 4 or 5 8x10's now as I have gotten rid of 3 or 4 8x10's over the last few years.

"Richie Sexson: 1/2, blew up at some kid who was there who asked Richie to put him batting average under his autograph as a joke. Richie actually got in his face and started swearing at him it was pretty funny. I think he signed just to show this kid up."

That "kid" he blew up on was me. This is the first I have seen this post, as I just became a member this week.

I just find it funny how "he signed just to show this kid up".

If you want to tell the whole story, which you should, it would go like this...Richie came out of the hotel, and was going somewhere in town(walking). A younger kid asked for him to sign, and he laughed and said no. While this was going on, I was on the curb watching. I was on the curb before Sexson came out, and stayed there while he walked by, because he is no one I want. I thought it was downright rude for him to laugh at a younger kid(you can simply say no in a polite way), so I decided to ask Richie: "Could you inscribe your batting average on a baseball for me please". Of course, he was batting exactly .205, this was in 2007. He stops in his tracks, comes back to me and bends over shouting obscenities at me while I am still sitting on the curb. After he was finally done, and after completely embarassing himself in front of 15 people, he went on his way. When he returned, he signed for everyone. I didn't go after him of course, and as he walked by the 2nd time, he says to me "whats up di** face?". At this point, I am embarassed FOR HIM! So I ask him "Do you have any class at all?" He proceeds to get in my face for the 2nd time, and tells me to quit living off his life. The funny thing here is that I NEVER asked him to touch a thing! I find it funny, because these athletes actually live off OUR lives, since we buy the tickets, jerseys, hats, etc.

Reading this post randomly(searching for Michigan football IP), just makes me laugh at how you describe the situation. Richie Sexson is a complete jerk, and a hot head as well. He is a complete tool, and I really wish he could hit over .205-hah!

So again, "he signed just to show this kid up"-How was he "showing ME up?". I would have to say all he did was totally embarass himself. I mean if he can't deal with the fact that he is hitting .205, maybe he should find a new profession.

The Mariners got A LOT of calls about this, complaining about Sexson's behavior. I just had to post about this, and reaffirm how big of a jerk Sexson is-I was SO HAPPY to see him released by the Yanks-maybe theres an independant league team who could use a waste of talent, .205 hitter.

Hey aren't you the kid that was at the Tigers hotel in Cleveland this past July? I remember you telling me this story. I was the kid from Masssachusetts.
