Not very exciting. Just hang out around the dugouts or down the lines. Its not all that big either. Typical NY Penn league ballpark.

Greenville does have a new park. All players come onto the field from a tunnel down the first base line, and sign right there. Very easy access, just get there early.

Just an addition on Lexington. They have recently instituted a new policy inside. No hounds may be in the seating area asking for graphs starting 35 minutes before the game (gates open an hour before game time). Hounds may still be in the lawn area until game time, however I am sure they will find a way to change that . Result is that visitors who are not sitting in the bullpen become much much more difficult.

Also sounds like some portion of the management team has decided they don't like autograph hounds (its not like we buy tickets, food, merchandise, or anything), and things may well get tougher, not easier.

Good news is that at least for now the home team is very easy so you can do well with them. My advice for anybody travelling is you hit Charleston, WV., Asheville, or Lake County for graphs if you can help it.

I know it is a gay rule you just have to buy the seat down there and then they can't kick you out

I know. That just ticks me off that, they feel like they have to treat people that way. Did you have a seat in that front row, or will any seat in the section work?

Harrisburg

I did the full deal at Harrisburg.

Inside B-
Outside A

Overall A-

Inside was a little tough due to the stadium layout. There was not much room to stand and you really can't get close to the dugout.

Outside was pretty good. The exit opens right into the walkway. The ony bad part was players blended into the crowd exiting. The clubhouse doors are right with the bathrooms, so if you don't know who you are looking for then you are going to miss them.

They have a pretty cool group of regulars so there should be no issues.

The stadium itself is nowhere near AA standards. It reminds me more of a NYP lg park. It has an old grandstand behind the plate and Alumium bleachers down the lines. It is real surprising that the EL lets them get away with the conditions. I heard there is going to be some work done this offseason so hopefully it will be a little better next year.

Ok...

South Bend (A-Midwest)
Inside A-
Outside A+
Players walk by you but some still hide in the dugout and refuse. Not alot of hounds so that is nice too.
After the game, the home team walks out the front of the building starting 30 min after the game. The away team walks up this ramp to ground level and then walks about 30 yrds to the bus. Time enough to have someone do a ball and decipher the sig before the player gets on the bus.

Ft. Wayne (A-Midwest)...
Inside A-
Outside Never tried
GO ON SUNDAY!!! Every sunday the wizzards have autograph day. The players are on the field for about 20-40 min after the game. Easy to clean up.

Toledo (AAA-International)
Inside A-
Ouside A+
One of the best stadiums I have ever collected at. Before the game there is one entrance into the visitors and home clubhouse and they are right next to each other. If you can identify the player... if his is willing, he's yours. At the game you can look right into both dugouts and call players over. After the game... same spot as pre-game.

Indianapolis (AAA-International)
Inside B+
Outside ???
Beautiful stadium but I'd rather go to Toledo.
Never figured out outside. But inside is like Toledo and visitors dugout at Ft.Wayne where you can look right into the dugout.

Gary (Indy)
Inside A+
Outside ???
Gary is phenominal. I have said before if Gary would ever be affiliated, I would forget South Bend. The players like to sign and are easily accessable before the game. Both home and away players are easy to spot either in our outside of the dugout.

My takes..very different?

Portland
Outside B+ If you get there when the players drive in, it's easy for about 3/4 of the time. No security guards, you can call a player over or they can call you over. When the old security guard comes in, you have to have "permission" from the player to go inside the lot. I remember that we called Charlie Zink and he put his glove down and we walked over and got yelled at by the security guard because Zink didn't say anything.

EDIT: For visitors, you gotta know what they look like. They come off a bus and you have to know faces.

Inside C- Very tough for visitors. They have to come over for you now. They eliminated the 2 barricades so you have to call them over. Sea Dogs, it's pretty easy, it's just most of them don't sign. Tons of kids and stuff like that.

OVERALL B-

Pawtucket
Outside B- Pregame is pretty easy. No barricades, it's up the players if they want to sign. There is a second lot, so it's tricky. Many people complain about the security guard, Rick. He's a great guy, it's just that you need to get to know him a little bit. We talk to him every so often and he's cool and everything. Gave me a scorecard and stuff, it's just he does his job and some people get offended by it. When the visitors are coming into the game, it's difficult. There is barricades and most players walk right by. Postgame is very easy, just crowded. Good visiting players attract at times 50-75 people. It IS barricaded but most players are cool for Pawtucket. They will sign at their cars or beyond the barricades. 2 exits again, but it's much easier because they all walk to the same place. Visitors is tricky. Bus is inside the barricades, usually infront of them. Last year, Milledge was there the same time Coco rehabbed. Imagine that, nobody told the people Coco came out the back way so imagine 100 people packed in when Milledge came out. Thats about as crowded as it gets. You would be smart to stand by the door because they do alot of signing next to the bus door (I got Milledge 3/3 from there).

INSIDE F- Cut out milk cartons, strings, nuff' said.

OVERALL C+ The big players can get tougher with the restriction in the park and outside, but it's a good park if you spend all day or just go pre-game. Also look for the poster night, a very fun night with an on-field auto session.

I did two new stadiums (for me) this year - should have posted this earlier

Myrtle Beach
Inside - A
good access to both teams - close enough to the field not to have to yell obscenely loud to get players to come over. Also had pretty decent bullpen access.

Outside - ??
Not sure how outside was because I got all the players I needed except one inside the stadium. It looked difficult to get the Pelicans post game- there was a guard in the gated parking lot. However the visiting team looked to have an unprotected bus and clubhouse.

Overall - A
despite perceived post game difficulties I found the inside so good I didn't need the post game.

Hickory
Inside - A++
Absol-freakin-lutely awesome! As long as you don't go out on the field you could walk to the picnic area and wait between the clubhouses and the field - you can knock out both teams as they walk onto the field. You can also go in the picnic area and virtually sit down in the bullpen with the players. Late in the game the used pitchers will often sit in the picnic area outside the clubhouse - they'll sign, too.

Outside is apparently just as easy, but you won't need to utilize it.

Overall - A++
I'm so glad my parents only live 20 mins away from Hickory - but its just a matter of time before they start wondering why I visit them more between April and August then I ever do the other 7 months of the year.

Akron:

Inside: B+. You can do both teams, but you have to walk across the stands and unless the home team guy is playing, it is kind of tough to reach over the railing.

Outside: A-/B+: You can not due both teams, but the team you choose is cake. They have to walk right past you.

Lake County:

Inside: A. both teams have to walk right past you to go to the field and if you miss them walking to the field, you can get them as soon as they enter the field in right field. Very easy.

Outside: A. Both teams come out doors that are right next to each other. The only negative is that the lighting is not always great and it is hard to make players out

Toledo:

Inside: B-. Tough to do both teams, but if you choose a side, most players are quite accessable

Outside: C-. Multiple entrances make this a game of hit or miss. During the summer, the opposing team walks to the ballpark, but you miss most of the MudHens

Columbus:

Outside: A. Very difficult not to get someone as the bus pulls into a parking lot and then all players have to walk past you. Only negative is that you really have to choose which team you want to do and if you are doing the away team, you have to pick the players you want as they show up on a bus

Inside: B+. Again, very difficult to do both teams, but security is pretty lax for the most part. Only negatives are the crowds are generally large and full of unorganized people.

Buffalo:

Outside: A. Both teams come in the same entrance and no security to bother you. Also, if you recognize the players, not difficult at all as there is not many autographers

Inside: C+. Hard to see into the dugout, but you can get the pitchers going to the bullpen on the side of the field.

Durham:

Outside: B. Most players get dropped off here as there did not seem to be a players parking lot, not many people doing graphs before the game outside the stadium, so made recognizing the team rough

Inside: C- Dugouts built back into the stadium so you have to hang over to see who is in there

Mahoning Valley:

Inside: A+. Stadium gives you ample time to get everyone before the game and the players enter and exit the field through the same doors

This is an incorrect statement. There are at least 3 different entrances the players can go in if they choose and the are at 3 different corners of the stadium.
