I was doing some random searching on the internet for logos and came across these stupid college nicknames.

Boll Weevils.

You are just getting started. The college where I went used to play in the Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference with UAM. There were, however, other questionable mascots in the AIC:

The women's teams used to be the Wonderettes, now they are the Golden Suns.

The plural form of Bison is Bison. The media guide says they know it is wrong, but they like it that way.

My school is McDaniel College (Westminster, MD) and we're the Green Terror. No one on campus has a clue as to what exactly this is since we don't have a mascot. The science people like to say it's the Green Terror fish:

The rest of us usually go with the school's ROTC mascot, which looks like this:

I don't know who decided to give us a nickname without anything to go with it but it wasn't the greatest idea.

There used to be a minor league baseball team called the Boll Weevils. The Piedmont Boll Weevils who are now the Kannapolis Intimidators. Boll Weevils is a far cooler mascot than an Intimidator.

Woodstock North High School Thunder, basically because WHS is the Blue Streaks (Lightning) and the people that made up the school name thought they were clever. In marketing class they had us create a project to think of a name for the new school me and a friend came up with a much better name for the school, Lynn Stewart High School Owls. For those of you who dont know who Lynn Stewart is he is possibly the only successful person ever to graduate from WHS, he played football for U of Illinois Rose Bowl team in 64 but thats not his greatest accomplishment, not even close. That would be this,
Hooters.com

So, that is the story of why WNHS has the worst mascot in history... and also why Woodstock sucks at life.

Tar Heels, not Tarheels, is clever mascot name. I'd always heard the legend about the Civil War troops "sticking" in battle as if they had tar on their heels.
