That was the first thing to catch my eye? What is the link on this? I would love to ask for an explanation of the misspelling. I'm sure its an error card worth millions of dollars...

I really think your best bet is to work with Craig's List and work the local news reporter route. This is honestly something that they would eat up. Making the report with the FBI is really just going to be sucked into the FBI vortex. It's no knock against law enforcement (since that's my background), however the reality is that there are just too many scams and too many calls. He undoubtedly uses Craigs List because it's loosely controlled and ripe for fraud and I am sure he uses a generic email from Yahoo, Hotmail or Gmail. I took report after report for Nigerian scams, International lotteries and the whole lot. This unfortunately fits the profile and the reality is that the scammers won't be caught.

The key is to ensure that the public is continually educated on the scams to ensure that the scammer has the fewest customers possible. I would get a couple of reputable opinions to confirm they are fakes and then approach the news. They are always looking to fill airtime and this will be good. You could also report the guy to the Attorney's General's consumer fraud division, but the same vortex will likely eat it up.

    Just my two cents.

Unless you have it in writing (and not emails) that this guy said they were originals, you have no recourse. If he just said "I got these cards and I think their old and I want $50 for them" ya got nothing.

I find it ironic people get so mad when the person their trying to rip off for $1,000's rips THEM off for $100's... and their the ones that are upset!!!!!

I assume you meant I was trying to rip him off? How so? The guy had a price for cards that he stated were vintage...I thought it was a good price so i paid it. He sold me the cards as if they were authentic. I paid assuming they were authentic. It was not like I haggled to get these cards at a discount. Bottom line is the guy sold me fake cards... and is still selling fake cards to other collectors. Heck he even has another buyer for his bogus garbage on this site besides me. This seller has lied every step of the way unfortunately I caught on a little to late. And I figure the irony in which you speak of would be lost on you if you got scammed by someone selling bogus stuff.

There was a article I recently read online about this seller on CL and these cards, the article stated the cards were frauds, fakes .There are ways to make these cards look old by means of different chemicals you place on them . But this guy out in California is selling fakes. Think about it,who in there right mind would sell these "so called real vintage cards" for that price.

How would he not have recourse if has stated that the cards were vintage? I think that if the transaction/s were large enough to warrant a law suit, then the e-mails/craigslist posts stating they were vintage would most definitely be able to be used against the seller.

Why dont some of the lawyers on the board give some advice here? Off the record of course. I know we have a few. I personally work with issues like this on a daily basis as I handle civil litigation and honestly this is going nowhere.

A lot of it depends on what ordinances the crime occured etc and if they have any real crime but more than likely in terms of criminal charges this will just be burried for a rainy day and that rainy day will not come.

In terms of Civil recourse you can file a law suit without question. The problem with this is that you will be paying filing fee's upfront without any idea of how the collectibility of the judgment will turn out if you are even granted a judgment. You probably have a very strong case against this guy but what you dont have is any idea of the collectibility. If you shoot me a PM with whatever information you have on this loser I can see if I can find anything out for you. You should have no problems having a process server in your area getting this moron served as you can just simply meet him to do another deal and have the process server hand him a summons (depending on service laws in your area).

With all that said unless you are pursuing this as principle I dont think you have much to get out of it.

    Sorry man

I would ask everyone to "flag" each above listing and click prohibited link at top right of listing...I am under the assumption that the more users that flag them there is a possibility the listing will be removed
