I don't see how Razor can afford to throw money at these draft picks, many of whom will be flipping burgers in 4-5 years, and then charge INSANE pack prices and hope to stay in business. I can't believe the nimrods in charge think they are on to something with this idea. I know several people who collect, and none of them can afford to take their mortgage and car payment combined and spend it on a pack of minor league cards. I will be laughing heartily when Razor announces bankruptcy in the near future.

Their Poker set was everso popular, they have a Cut Signature product out now, and I have a feeling some whacko's will buy cases of the new Cut Signature 2k/pack crap. I really want to see these guys fail, but I think it might work.

You'd be amazed at how much they really are paying some of these athletes compared to Topps, and it is not only screwing up card collecting, but IP autographs and private signing sessions. I know a few agents who have had some of their clients sign agreements with Razor, and they are laughing all the way to the bank with the markups they are getting compared to Topps. With Beckham getting nearly 300k for his exclusive, autograph collectors can rest assured he won't be signing much, personalizing when he does, and expecting a TON for private signings when he is allowed to (Beckham is memorabilia exclusive as well if I'm not mistaken). For those who don't know, the president of Razor is the owner of Edgeman Sports, a card distributor, so he at least knows the business well. Not too sure Razor's prospect brand will be successful, so it will just have to be a wait and see for all of us.

If and when this becomes too prevalent, I'm out. Either that, or we can organize and boycott these products. Seems like most people who do this seriously are members here anyway. But it would take commitment and working together

It's a matter of perspective. When it comes to money, some players think graphers are making a ton of $$$$ off of them so their argument is why can't they get a piece of the action by signing an exclusive deal. It'll always be a choice whether or not a player signs for you TTM or IP. Just deal with it and move on.

Well from my perspective, when everybody starts personalizing and will sign only certain cards if they sign at all, then it's no fun. So as you say "bc81758", I just deal with it and move on...........to another hobby.

Just make sure you move on to stamp collecting so you can at least help the rest of us.

Oh no

Oh no the sky is falling....

People were complaining about TRISTAR making cards and thinking they would be to expensive. What they did was pretty much make one of the best sets in a long time with 2008 Tristar Projections.

Wait and buy the product

With 4 different baseball sets planned, one has got to be cheap.

3 years and the contract expires when they are in High A.....

Its no different then Tristar signing athletes until they reach Double A and then reorganizing their contracts which many don't renew....

The sky won't fall because of a new minor league product.

Except Tristar never had the balls to come out and charge $2000 for a pack of cards. C'mon, are you seriously trying to rationalize that? I'm not saying anything about players IP habits or any of that jazz. I'm just saying that you dump a bunch of money into a product, and expect people to pay exorbitant prices for it, it seems like a surefire formula for failure to me. Maybe I'm wrong and all the well-to-do's will turn their backs on the stock market and plunk their life's savings down on minor league cards. I guess stranger things have happened. But having been in this hobby for a while, I don't see this being very successful. Remember the super high end stuff UD put out? A bunch of dealers lost their asses off of those, so next time UD releases a $100 a pack product, who bought it? And that was major league guys with auto/game-used inserts of real name guys, and 1/20th the price. Who has 2 grand to throw at ONE pack of rookie ball guys? I realize they have 4 sets planned, but I have to think they're getting themselves into a deep hole with the money they're putting into this.

The $2000 packs aren't of ball players. Each pack has a cut autograph of a President or something like that.

Weren't the presidential cuts inserts though? I thought the base set was draft picks. I hope you're right and that's the case though!

EDIT: OK, went to their website and saw where it's mostly a bunch of musicians and celebrities, crap like that. LOL, that's worse actually! I can spend $2K and maybe get a cut signature from Nell Carter!! Gimme A Break!...ROFL! However, I am personally very happy to see it's not a super-high end minor league set.

I'm pretty sure the 2,000 per pack set is only of president cuts, and the one of musicians and stuff is $100 per pack.
