This just in, David Cooper today said he couldn't sign cards, any cards except for Razor. I had a NYP Prospect card and the 2 cards in the Auburn Team Set, so I was rather pissed off. I called Brian from Razor on his cell and apparnetly, Cooper's agent didn't communicate that it was ok if he personalized them. When I told David, he signed them. But be aware of it. And yes, they were glossy cards

I'm thinking the fact that the DOW is off 25% from it's high is going to screw this company.

Everyone said that Tim Beckham was personalizing but after Instructs games ended he stayed around with Brignac and Troy to work out. He was signing 2 items a piece for peeps.

I still dont believe there will be any problems with these players until I have a player tell me personally he will not sign the card because Razor told them not too.

If this is the way Razor is going to operate - it is what it is. The only power/recourse we have is to NOT buy their products. I know I will not be. I will also take a minute to write a letter to the company - I know it wont do a damn bit of good - but if EVERYONE does it, it might amount to something. We can b and c all day long on this board - but if everyone goes out and buys their products, then what good does that do? We basically give them positive feedback and let them know that their approach/business plan is working.

On the flip side, I wonder if the players have taken just a minute to consider the bad karma and negative grass roots PR that comes with this type of approach with fans. Would you rather have the nickels and dimes that come from Razor when you are a first or second year player - or throngs of fans that pay 100 bucks a pop to get you to sign at a show 7 years later because you are their favorite player and you were cool to me on the back fields of Dunedin or Sarasota back in 08. Unless, said player is never going to get past the Sally League - which is likely for many of these players.

Considering how many players actually manage to become major league regulars, I think the minor leaguers are smart to take the money while they can get it. For every Derek Jeter, there are how many Erick Almontes? And just think how many guys never make it at all.

I may not like the trend that Razor is encouraging, but I really can't fault the players who want to take advantage of it.
